My Story
I graduated in 2020 and have been working as an Occupational Therapist within the NHS all over Scotland.

Initially I started working to assist with the covid pandemic whilst finishing my studies. This job covered a large geographic area of community hospitals with a wide spectrum of rehab opportunities. I assisted in developing a new service - a discharge to assess team - to enable people to get home from hospital and rehab at home in their own home environment. Within this role I gained experience of being part of a MDT, case conferences, rehab and enablement care plans, advocating for the patients and daily planning and running of the Occupational Therapy case load in the hospital.

I then moved into providing high quality Occupational Therapy care to individuals who had undergone vascular surgery. A main part of this job was to provide rehab to individuals who had undergone amputations to enable them to life their lives as independently with as much fulfilment as possible.

Currently, I am developing a new service for elective orthopaedics, including carrying a case load, management and support of a team, providing training, auditing, development, whilst continuing to provide high quality care to individuals who have undergone elective orthopaedic surgery.

Although I love my role within the NHS, I am now joining Maia to work further in the private sector.

Outside of work, I love spending time with family. I previously volunteered as an assistant dance teacher for a less-able performance dance group. I transferred my dance skills to help others communicate in different ways and identify solutions. My family have horses and dogs who are therapy animals and they visit hospitals and care homes as we understand and appreciate the importance animals can have to an individuals quality of life.
